Cyber Safety Parent Information Night Thursday 7:00pm 9th November

At 7:00pm on Thursday 9th of November Maleny State School will be hosting a three-school event on Cyber Safety for parents and carers. I highly recommend that parents and carers are educating themselves in this ever-changing space and have the needed skills and knowledge to help ensure your children are well prepared and protected and are able to take full advantage of all of the positive outcomes that the Internet can provide.

The River School, Maleny State High School and Maleny State School are sponsoring the Internet Safe Education presentation by Brett Lee. Internet Safe Education creator, Brett Lee has worked as a Queensland Police Officer for 22 years, 16 of those as a Detective predominantly in the field of Child Exploitation. In his last five years of service, he was a specialist in the field of undercover internet child exploitation investigations. Brett has been personally involved in the online investigation, arrest and prosecution of numerous offenders, whose medium for preying on children is the internet. Further to Brett’s experience, he has completed the FBI Advanced Internet Investigations Course and has worked with the FBI Innocent Images Unit, Maryland USA, the Department of Homeland Security Cyber Crimes Centre, Virginia USA and the San Jose Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, California USA.

Internet Safe Education is part of the Australian Government eSafety Commissioner’s Trusted eSafety Provider Program. This event is free to all parents and carers of the three schools. Add this to your date calendar.

Below is a registration link for anyone intending on coming to the free event being hosted by the three schools and co-sponsored by the Maleny State School P&C. Registering your attendance will help us with seating plans on the night.
