Maleny State School's P&C Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is open for business
What is an 'OSHC' service?
This is a child care service for children, in Prep to Year 6, for:
- Before School Care (includes a light breakfast)
- After School Care (includes afternoon snacks)
- Vacation Care (includes some snacks but children bring their own lunches as normal during Term)
- Pupil Free Days (includes some snacks but children bring their own lunches as normal during Term)
Why is one needed?
The only provider of an OSHC service in Maleny, Goodstart Early Learning centre, has now closed their program.
The P&C understands the significant impact that the loss of this service will have on many families at our School and proceeded to establish a new service.
Who will be running it?
The P&C has engaged an Expert Consultant to assist the Executive in establishing and staffing the service. This will be a service provided and operated by the P&C.
What are the hours?
Currently, we are hoping to secure enough Educators to provide the following:
- Before School Care from 6.00am to 8.30am
- After School Care from 3.00pm to 6.30pm
- Vacation Care from 6.00am to 6.30pm
- Pupil Free Days from 6.00am to 6.30pm
OSHC Facilities
The P&C is partnering with the Department of Education to upgrade one of the School's buildings to be the 'home room' for the OSHC service. Temporary facilities are being used in the meantime.
