Club Name: Minecraft Club

Minecrafter Club using Microsoft’s Minecraft Education Edition. This version is only available to schools and other education based groups. Two clubs are typically run each year. These are Senior and Junior Builders clubs. Open to different age groups these clubs focus on different aspects.
Age group/s targeted:
Junior Builders – Year 1 (and sometimes Year 2)
Senior Builders – Years 3-6 (and sometimes Year 2).
Specific activity details (what will kids be involved in):
Junior Builders uses Minecraft Education Edition as the hook to learn computer literacy skills (keyboards, using a mouse, navigating menus, using usernames and passwords etc). A big focus is also collaboration and respect online as students will be working with others in shared spaces.
Senior Builders focus on team challenges in building and crafting. Team work and collaboration are key aspects of this group.
How often does the club meet:
Club meeting times vary depending on the group. A group's formal session may be run each week with 1 follow-up session for catchup or extra work on challenges.
Clubs may run for an entire semester or just one term. How often clubs meet are based on the availability of staff to manage and supervise these groups. This is confirmed when invite notes go out.

How to join the club (when old enough):
Clubs when being run are announced to the various age groups and permission notes will come home for parental consent to join. Positions are limited. A selection process is run if too many students want to join. This is based interest, class behaviours, school attendance and teacher recommendations.
