Welcome to Garden Club

What is it?
The School Garden Club covers a number of activities, weeding, mulching, potting up seeds, watering and planting seedlings and making signs for the garden areas.
Age group/s targeted:
The School Garden Club is available for any students from Year 3 to Year 6.
Specific activity details (what will kids be involved in):
We are learning to identify different plants and trying out recipes for the vegetables and herbs that we grow. We are learning about the nutritional value for the different vegetables and herbs and how they help our bodies and contribute to our well-being.

Other duties include collecting the compost bins each Friday and emptying these into our larger compost bins and then washing and cleaning out our smaller compost bins and returning these to classrooms for snack breaks and in all the lunch areas.

Garden Club Members love trying out new recipes using our own fresh produce from the garden.
We also have members who collect the 10 cent containers each Friday and put them in the large collection bins. The money raised goes towards our garden club supplies. At times our Garden Club members go to different eating areas to give instructions on how to use the recycling bins correctly.

Salad bags are also sold to members of our school staff. It is a great place to hang out and work as a team and enjoy being with our native bees and other insects and our resident water dragon!
How often does the club meet:
Garden Club members meet at both lunch breaks to do a number of activities, weeding, mulching, potting up seeds, watering and planting seedlings and making signs for the garden areas.
How to join the club (when old enough):
Just come down to the garden at lunch time and join us if you are happy to get your hands dirty and help out with the jobs.
