Educators are trained in The Early Years Curriculum and the National Curriculum Guidelines and are implementing these guidelin in their classrooms. It is a full-time program and children attend from Monday to Friday during normal school hours, from 8.50am to 2.50pm.
Children must turn 5 by 30th June in the year they start Prep. The Kindy Calculator is available to confirm ages for when children can start in Kindy, Prep and Year 1.
A key feature of Prep is that it makes connections between school and children’s experiences at home, kindy or daycare. Prep is integrated fully into the rest of the school. Classrooms and other facilities are located in the school grounds.

Maleny Prep Information Evening
Parents and Carers are invited to attend the following evening information session:
- 5-6pm Wednesday 21st October at the Maleny State School Innovation Centre Meeting Room.
Transition to Prep Sessions*
We will be holding a series of Transition to Prep days to ease the children’s transition from home, kindy and daycare to Prep. Children are invited to attend any or all of these days with an adult. These transition mornings will provide you with an opportunity to visit the Prep classrooms and playground and meet the friendly staff. Please bring a hat. These days will be held on:
- Wednesday 28th October - 9:00am - 10:30am
- Wednesday 4th November - 9:00am - 10:30am
*Only for children who have completed and submitted enrolment applications.
