School Musical 2014 - 'The Haunted House'

Maleny State School’s 2014 Musical Spooktacular                                       
What do Ghosts, Rock’n’Roll, Chains, Lullabies, Skeletons, Magic, Goblins, Dancing, Bullying and Friendship have in common? These are the essential elements of the Children’s Musical Spooktacular ‘The Haunted House’. This funny, fast paced, enchanting Musical delves into the issues and aspects of bullying with-in a social group.
The storyline which is set in an old creaky house known as ‘Gribble Manor’ explores the interaction between the four main ghosts, Gribble, Facefull, Idleboanz and Pandamoanium. From the outset one ghost’s bullying ways have made existence in ‘The Haunted House’ for other ghosts very unpleasant. With the help of the enchantress Atherielle, these inhabitants   learn how to work together to encourage tolerance, respect, self-confidence and friendship.
Performers:  There will be opportunities for over one hundred students to perform as actors, singers and dancers.
Rehearsals: During Term 2 and Term 3 there will be rehearsals Tuesday afternoons from 3-4 pm and dress rehearsals  Sunday 22nd June and Sunday 27th  July.
Cost: There will be a $10 Costume hire fee per student to be part of The Haunted House Team. This is to help cover costs of sourcing/ buying/making costumes and accessories.
Contract: As this is a major project for both students and teachers, each child will be asked to sign a contract agreeing to take on the commitment necessary to make this venture as successful as possible.
Media Permission:  Students need media permission as their photos will be taken during rehearsals and at The Haunted House performances. These images will be used in the school newsletter and website and also for advertising in the local media.
