It’s a question we would all certainly like to say yes to, however after being around a lot of children for many years and having three of them myself most of us might more honestly answer I hope so. Many children are crossing the road near the Library and using the roundabout instead of either using the school crossing (to prevent having to cross the road) or underpass. It has been reported that children are crossing without looking for oncoming traffic and there have been some lucky escapes.
Teachers will be discussing this issue with all children this week along with myself on parade. I have passed on some parent concerns to the Honourable Andrew Powell. I will also take a walk down this way after school to assist children crossing safely. Please back me up and have a discussion with your children about road safety. It may just save your child or another’s life.
