I Choose to Defuse!

16/06/2014
The School Wide Positive Behaviour focus for this coming fortnight is the buzz words of "I Choose to Defuse!"".

This means that to be safe students will:
  • I say STOP if someone or something is upsetting me.
  • I WALK away from the situation to a safe place.
  • I TALK to someone I can trust.
  • I CONTROL myself and keep my COOL.
  • I can solve problems in a calm manner.

As part of class activities teachers and students will discuss and consider:

  • What is a peaceful resolution.
  • Providing  students with strategies to use when faced with a social/emotional problem. (Count backwards, breathing, have a drink, go for a walk)
  • What happens if I don’t keep my cool! What does it look like?  Is it appropriate?
  • How does it affect others? Would others’ think it is COOL?
  • Discuss the STOP, THINK, DO process.
  • Every ACTION has a REACTION and only individuals can control their own Actions.
