Harmony and Anti Bullying National Day of Action

These two events fit beautifully together and as a school we will celebrate them both this Friday. All classes will be participating in a number of activities over the next two weeks to promote respectful relationships, build resilience and develop strategies to deal with bullying.
We ask students to wear bright colours as free dress (sun safe) this Friday to support our anti bullying and harmony day message. Gold coin donations will go to Welcome2Maleny which is a local group that supports refugees on the Sunshine Coast. Welcome2Maleny donates stationary, school uniforms and school supplies to refugee students living on the Sunshine Coast.
We will hold a special assembly on Friday morning at 9:00 on the 16 March to share our schools strong stance on Anti Bullying. All classes will be participating in special activities over the next couple of weeks to ensure our children are clear on what bullying is and how harmful it can be as well as developing skills to assist them in reacting appropriately if they are bullied.

Harmony Day Celebrations

Wednesday, 21 March is Harmony Day. As part of our Harmony Day celebrations this year all of our Yr 3 classes will unite with the Ananda Marga River School and the Maleny State High School to perform songs in the Maleny Township at 9:15 (in the middle of town between real estate and Peace of Green).
Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’, the Day aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster sense of belonging for everyone.
Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live.
The Day is held every year on 21 March and coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
